Camp Whip-Poor-Will has been around in various forms since the 1970’s. The early roots grew out of summer camps put together for Myers Park Presbyterian Church at the old Dan Hood campus and the Davidson Lake campus. The Original Camp Whip-Poor-Will became a reality in the Summer of 1982, when it had its first official season on the grounds of Gus Purcell’s old football camp. Attendance was sold out right away and waiting-lists were established, a trend that continued throughout its long and storied history. (read more)
